Planning a trip to Laos? Whether you’re dreaming of exploring ancient temples, enjoying breathtaking landscapes, or diving into the rich culture, you’ll need a visa to enter this beautiful country.

Luckily for Indians, the Laos Travel Visa process is extremely convenient and online.

Type of visa:

Laos offers E-visa to foreigners. This electronic visa is issued beforehand unlike a visa- on-arrival that needs to be stamped on your passport once you arrive. 

Application process:

  • Start off by clicking this link, and start a new e-visa application.
  • Fill out your personal information, passport information, etc.
  • Upload a recent passport sized picture of yourself and scanned picture of your bio-data page of passport.
  • Double check that all the info you have filled is accurate.
  • You will also have to pay an application fee of 50 USD which is approximately 4,173 INR.
  • After paying the fees you can submit your application and wait for it to get processed. Your application will take upto 3 working days to get processed. 
  • Once approved you will receive your visa on your email. Note that you need to apply for this visa at least 7 days before your date of arrival in Laos.

Documents you’ll need after arrival:

  • A passport that is valid for at least 6 months after date of arrival in Laos
  • A recent passport sized photograph
  • A print out of your visa application

Note that your visa is only valid if you’re entering Laos through these following points of entry.

  • Wattay International Airport (Vientiane Capital)
  • Lao – Thai Friendship Bridge I (Vientiane Capital)
  • Luang Prabang International Airport (Luang Prabang)
  • Lao – Thai Friendship Bridge II (Savannakhet Province)
  • Pakse International Airport (Champasack Province)
  • Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge IV (Bokeo Province)
  • Boten International Checkpoint (Luang Namtha Province)
  • Boten Railway Station (Luang Namtha Province)

Validity of Laos travel visa:

Your visa is valid for 60 days (2 months) after date of issue. Whereas, the duration of your stay can only be 30 stays.
